Monkey Baby Shower

Back in February I did cakes for two baby showers on back to back weekends. That's nothing all that crazy, but I did think it was kind of funny that BOTH were using a monkey theme and that the colors for BOTH were yellow and green. I did similar, but not identical cakes. I thought both turned out really sweet!

Pink and Brown Damask

About a month ago I did a baby shower cake for a girl I used to teach with. Our school always did a baby shower for the first baby any of the teachers had, and this time around it was Shelly's turn! She's due any day now and will be bringing home a precious baby girl named Colbie. The nursery is done in pink and brown damask, so the teachers decorated for her shower to coordinate with that and requested that the cake match that theme as well. We're really excited for you, Shelly!!

Purple Vintage Flowers

My friend Kim celebrated her birthday back in January and her husband asked me to do a cake for her.  Her favorite color is purple and she likes flowers, but he didn't want just your run-of-the-mill flowers. I decided to give them a vintage feel and do a really deep, dark purple. I think it was beautiful! The whole time her husbamd was teasing her that he had just ordered a cake from Kroger. She was frustrated and said if she couldn't have one of my cakes, then she didn't want one at all! I thought that was a huge compliment! Thanks for being so sweet, Kim, and Happy Birthday!

Bouncing Birthday

My friend Molly asked me to do the cake for her son Luke's 2nd birthday. Luke is such a cutie and really enjoys playing with bouncy balls. Molly wanted to go with a color scheme of blues, orange, and yellow and wanted fondant "bouncy balls" all around the cake. It turned out really cute! Happy Birthday, Luke!!

Winter ONEderland

My friend Shannon asked me to do a Winter ONEderland themed 1st birthday cake for her son Daniel back in January. She used lots of blues and white as the color scheme and cute penguins were the theme for the party. I did snowflakes on the sides of the cake. Happy first birthday, Daniel!! You are such a sweet heart!

High Flying Birthday

My friend Lisa and her family celebrated her dad, Larry's 60th birthday back in January. It was a pleasure to do the cake for the event. Larry has his pilot's license and even owns an airplane. The color scheme for the party was designed around his plane, and Lisa asked that I do the same for the cake. The image came from the design on the tail of the plane. I did that part in marshmallow fondant... thought I'd try my hand at something new. It came out fine, but as a personal choice, I just don't like working with fondant as much as buttercream. The party was a huge success, and all of Lisa's hard work was very fruitful in making it a truly special celebration.

Super Hero Birthday

Back in January I did a cake for my friend Amber's son Cole. He wanted a super hero party (of course, what 4 year old  boy doesn't!?!) We narrowed down the list to 3 super heros--Batman, the Hulk, and Captain America. I did the "comic book words" on the side. I think it turned out really cute! Happy Birthday, Cole! You're a super hero to me!!
