Lightning and Mater

Back in October a little boy named Destiny celebrated his 4th birthday. Like all little boys right now he really likes the Disney Cars movie and characters, especially Lightning McQueen and Mater. Hope it was a great birthday, Destiny!

Colorful Black Swirls

Mary Beth recently celebrated her 15th birthday, which is hard for me to believe because it feels like just yesterday she was in my 3rd grade class. She wanted something bright and colorful with black swirls. Pretty, just like the birthday girl!

Tennessee Vols First Birthday

Maria and Chad's son Bryce recently turned 1. The family (or maybe just the dad??) roots for the Tennessee Volunteers, so naturally, with it being football season, that was the theme!

Happy 1st Birthday, Bryce!!

Pirate Excursion

My Friend Courtney's mom celebrated her birthday out on a boat with friends and family all decked out in pirate gear. The cake was supposed to go along with the pirate theme a little, but mostly be a red canoe floating past canyon walls. Sorry about the blur on the left side... my lens was really dirty! Happy Birthday, Donna! Hope Ye had a grrreat pARRRty!

Winter Comes Early For a Frosty Farewell

Carol's co-worker, Laurie was moving to a different state ( I don't remember where) where the temperatures are much colder. They decided to throw her a going away party with the changing climate in mind and did a sort of winter wonderland theme.

Hokie Hoopla

My cousin Autumn recently had a birthday and requested a Hokie cake from her mom. She even drew me a picture to show how she wanted it laid out. Personally, I do not understand all of this Hokie Hoopla, but I just do what I'm told. :) I did tease Autumn a little when she came with her mom to get the cake by saying I had her UVA cake all ready for her. The look on her face was priceless! Happy Birthday, little Hokie fan!

Proverbs 31 Woman

My friend Crystal celebrated her 40th birthday back in September. Her husband Jeff wanted the cake to reflect Crystal's godly conduct (I agree, she is one of the most godly women I know), so I suggested this verse from Proverbs 31. It was fitting, and the beauty of the cake is far surpassed by the beauty of this life lived for Jesus!

Lovebirds Wedding Shower Cake

Matt and Mollie are a new couple to our church and I had the honor of making their wedding shower cake. The shower was inspired by their wedding invitation, which featured two lovebirds on a tree branch. They are a neat couple and and are solidly grounded in the Lord. We look forward to seeing how He uses your marriage His kingdom!

Tropical Celebration

Becky and her family had lots of things to celebrate back in August: birthdays, showers, etc. The family decided to throw one big party, like a Luau. She liked the Hawaiian Luau cake I had done a while back and asked if I would replicate it for this party. The weather was perfect for an outdoor celebration that day. Hope you guys had a blast!!

Farewell to a Princess

Mary Lynn had a coworker who was moving on to something else and she was helping to throw a little goodbye celebration for Alyssa. Everyone at work teased her and called her 'princess,' so that was the theme of the party. I think it turned out great!

Virginia Tech / Mountain State Graduation Cake

Lauren's sister, Kendall, also had reason to celebrate this past spring/summer; She graduated from Virginia Tech and Mountain State and has recently started working in her field of study. This young woman is a pillar of strength in her faith in God, and He, of course, has proven faithful. Her celebration of this big accomplishment was postponed a little until after her sister's wedding, but Kendall is gracious and humble and didn't mind. Congratulations, Kendall!!

Virginia Tech Groom's Cake

Another wedding that I had the privilege to attend and to make the groom's cake for was Lauren and Andrew's. They are both godly people and true servants to the Lord. It is an awesome thing to see the power of Christ in people, lived out unashamedly. Andrew was an active athlete in high school and attended Virginia Tech, so those to things and his love for Jesus inspired this groom's cake.
