Red and Purple Flowers Birthday Cake

Recently I did a cake for my friend Kim. She had the cake made for her mother's birthday. Her mom's birthday is near Christmas (oops, I guess I did have one more post from December!), and her favorite color is red. Kim wanted something special for her mom because normally her birthday and Christmas get rolled into one and she ends up with a cake that looks more like a Christmas cake than a birthday cake. I did red and purple flowers with a swirl pattern on the sides. Simple and pretty, but not something that would look like it was meant for the Christmas holiday.

THE most glorious birthday EVER!

Well, as you can tell by my previous posts, I'm a little behind in getting my cake pictures up here. Sorry. Especially if you were waiting to see YOUR cake. I'm finally wrapping up the December posts, ending with the cakes I made to celebrate the most wonderful birthday ever known to man--the birth of Jesus Christ, the holy and perfect Son of the one true God, the only name by which man can be saved from the just wrath of God for our sin. We celebrate His miraculous birth at Christmas. I did a cake for the celebration after the children's Christmas program at our church's child development center. That cake matched the invitation given to the parents and it was centered around the theme of sheep--shepherds being the first to receive the good news of the savior's birth, and also knowing that Jesus is the Lamb of God, and that His death and resurrection was the one pure, atoning sacrifice.

The other cake I did was for our own home, a Happy Birthday, Jesus cake. We are striving to teach and train our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, praying all the time that God would save them. It's vitally important that they know that Christmas is not about presents, Santa, or even them or our family, but it is a celebration of our only Hope! I pray that your Christmas was filled with rejoicing at the birth of our Savior!

Owl Baby Shower

Back in December I did a cake for my friend Shannon. She was hosting a baby shower for her Aunt who was expecting their 2nd child, a son named David. Shannon Found some cute decorations with stripes and an owl theme, and asked that the cake match that decor. She also wanted to incorporate the baby's initials. I thought the owl theme was precious and the colors were cute, too!

Butterflies and Daisies

At the end of December I did a birthday cake for Helen from our church. She is a very sweet woman with a very kind and helpful spirit. Her favorite colors are blue and green and she loves flowers and butterflies. Last year she asked for blue and green butterflies wit sunflowers, this year's request was blue and green butterflies with daisies. Looking at her cake made me wish it were spring! Hope you had a great birthday, Helen!!

Stripes 1st Birthday

My friend Ashely had me make a cake for her son Caleb's 1st birthday. She didn't have any sort of theme for this small, family only party but wanted the cake to match the evite she sent. There were stripes and an assortment of colors, including brown, teal, orange, and yellow. Caleb is such a sweetie! Happy 1st birthday, Caleb!!
