Staci, a former co-worker of mine, asked me to do a birthday cake for her daughter, Maddie. Maddie is really into lacrosse right now and has a cute, girlie pink LAX stick. Staci sent me a picture of Maddie's stick so I could draw it on the cake. The sides also had pink, yellow and green polka-dots. When I did this cake it wasn't yet spring, but the colors made me long for that time of year! Hope your birthday was great, Maddie!

Moving on...
In February, the long-time custodian at our church, Raymond, retired. He's planning to spend his retirement doing a lot of traveling and visiting his brother and sister who live in Florida and Indiana. The office staff had me do a cake to commemorate his years of service and to wish him well in his future years of traveling. The design was a suitcase to symbolize Raymond moving on to something new.

Monkey Baby Shower
Back in February I did cakes for two baby showers on back to back weekends. That's nothing all that crazy, but I did think it was kind of funny that BOTH were using a monkey theme and that the colors for BOTH were yellow and green. I did similar, but not identical cakes. I thought both turned out really sweet!

Pink and Brown Damask
About a month ago I did a baby shower cake for a girl I used to teach with. Our school always did a baby shower for the first baby any of the teachers had, and this time around it was Shelly's turn! She's due any day now and will be bringing home a precious baby girl named Colbie. The nursery is done in pink and brown damask, so the teachers decorated for her shower to coordinate with that and requested that the cake match that theme as well. We're really excited for you, Shelly!!

Purple Vintage Flowers
My friend Kim celebrated her birthday back in January and her husband asked me to do a cake for her. Her favorite color is purple and she likes flowers, but he didn't want just your run-of-the-mill flowers. I decided to give them a vintage feel and do a really deep, dark purple. I think it was beautiful! The whole time her husbamd was teasing her that he had just ordered a cake from Kroger. She was frustrated and said if she couldn't have one of my cakes, then she didn't want one at all! I thought that was a huge compliment! Thanks for being so sweet, Kim, and Happy Birthday!

Bouncing Birthday
My friend Molly asked me to do the cake for her son Luke's 2nd birthday. Luke is such a cutie and really enjoys playing with bouncy balls. Molly wanted to go with a color scheme of blues, orange, and yellow and wanted fondant "bouncy balls" all around the cake. It turned out really cute! Happy Birthday, Luke!!
